Draisinenspaß

Rail trolley
From the gateway to the Weserbergland - in Rinteln - through the Lippische Bergland on the bicycle trolley

Some fitness, a good dose of muscle power and enjoyment of movement: These are the most important prerequisites for a special kind of pleasure trip - a trolley tour through the beautiful Extertal valley from Rinteln to Alverdissen on the route of the historic Extertalbahn.

So hop on, take a seat and off you go - the route is 18 kilometers long. But don't worry: there are picnic areas and quaint inns to keep you from breaking a sweat.

In the meantime, you will learn that this ultra-modern rail bike was invented back in 1817. Back then, the draisine was used for transportation and route control, today it is more for pleasure.

The best way to ride the bike on rails is with four people - making it an ideal excursion tip for couples, families or groups of friends.

E-Draisine
The counterpart to the e-bike is now also available for draisines. It is particularly suitable for senior citizens, for example, as the electric motor can be switched on as required for support.

Wheelchair trolley
There is an extra wheelchair trolley for wheelchair users, which can be set in motion manually.

The route profile:
Length:
18.1 km ascent
Descent: an average of 11 m per 1,000 m
Ride time: approx. 3 hours on the outward journey (ascent) at a speed of 6 km/h and approx. 1.5 hours on the return journey (descent) at a speed of 14 km/h
