Viewpoint Jahrtausenblick
The Jahrtausendblick was created as a decentralized project of EXPO2000 in Hanover. It was built in the middle of the steinzeichen steinbergen adventure world not far from the BAB 2 motorway and is visible as a landmark from afar. With a height of 250 meters and 156 steps, it offers a breathtaking view of the adjacent active quarry as well as the Weser Valley and the North German Plain.
The millennium view is a monumental work of art made of regional natural stone. In combination with the materials steel and glass, it acts as an interface between the past and the future and thus stands in contrast to the cultural monuments Hermannsdenkmal near Detmold and the Kaiser Wilhelm monument in Porta Westfalica.
Hiking park
Today, there is a hiking park on this site with a 4 km network of hiking trails. There is a circular path across the site, with the millennium view at its center.
Sculptural and artificial products from the EXPO period are visible and sometimes hidden along the hiking trails.
Beer garden
At the entrance to the park there is a beer garden with snacks, stalls, play equipment and a kiosk.
Events
Events take place regularly on the grounds of the hiking park. For example, there is a monthly medieval market and a flea market.
The park also has a heated tent for commercial and private events of all types and sizes.
