To mark the occasion, the association is inviting members, their families and interested members of the public to an end-of-year event at the exhibition grounds on Dr. Jørgen Kieler-Platz in Barkhausen.
The event offers the opportunity to look back, but also to talk to each other, ask questions about current projects and look ahead to future plans and priorities. Visitors can find out about planned activities and discuss, among other things, what involvement in the memorial - whether project-related, organizational or in terms of content - could look like. In addition to information on the memorial's work, short guided tours of the exhibition are also available on request.
The last themed tour of the year on the traces of the subcamps and forced labor in Barkhausen and Hausberge starts at 11 a.m. on the same day. The tour starts at 11 a.m. directly at the exhibition container. It leads from the former camp site at the Kaiserhof across the Weser bridge to the forecourt of the Dachs I underground relocation site. Unfortunately, the tunnel system cannot be entered during the tour for reasons of species protection. The last stop is the memorial in Hausberge. From there, the group returns to Barkhausen at around 1 pm. This allows interested participants to seamlessly combine the tour with a visit to the end-of-year event.
